Growing with God

Every church has a statement or motto that captures its heart and vision. For us, those three simple words—“Growing with God”—sum up who we are and what we long to become as a community of believers. Growth is not just about numbers, buildings, or programs. It’s about a deeper, richer, life-giving relationship with God that transforms us individually and collectively.

Growth is a Journey

Growth doesn’t happen overnight. Just like a seed takes time to sprout, develop roots, and eventually bear fruit, spiritual growth is a process. God patiently nurtures us, shaping us through His Word, His Spirit, and His people. Philippians 1:6 reminds us: “He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” Our church motto reminds us that we are all on this journey together—learning, stumbling, celebrating, and moving forward step by step.

Growing in Faith

To grow with God means growing in trust. Faith is not static; it stretches and matures as we walk through life’s ups and downs. Some seasons are marked by joy and celebration, while others bring trials and questions. Yet each circumstance becomes an opportunity to root our faith deeper in Christ. As we spend time in Scripture, prayer, and worship, we discover that God is faithful, even when life feels uncertain.

Growing in Love

Spiritual growth is not just vertical—it’s horizontal. As we grow closer to God, we are called to grow in love for one another. Jesus said the world would recognize His disciples by their love (John 13:35). Growing with God means allowing His love to shape our attitudes, soften our hearts, and guide our actions. It means practicing forgiveness, extending grace, and serving others with humility.

Growing in Service

True growth in Christ always overflows into action. A spiritually healthy church does not just sit and soak; it serves. Whether it’s reaching out to our neighbors, supporting missions, or volunteering within our congregation, we grow when we give. Service keeps us from becoming self-centered and reminds us that God blesses us to be a blessing to others.

Growing Together

The beauty of our motto is that it is not just about individual growth but communal growth. We are not meant to walk this journey alone. God places us in community so we can encourage, challenge, and support one another. Like iron sharpening iron, we help each other mature in Christ. Small groups, worship services, Bible studies, and fellowship meals are all ways we “grow with God” together.

“Growing with God” is more than a motto—it’s a call to action. It’s an invitation to open ourselves to the transforming work of the Holy Spirit and to walk faithfully, step by step, with the One who makes all things new. As we continue to pursue this vision, may our church be a place where roots go deep, fruit is abundant, and God’s love is unmistakably present.
